This article will be very interesting because in this article we study tense which is confusing for some students. Most of the students were amazed when they used the Present Perfect Continuous tense and Present Perfect tense. Check out the picture and the definitions given below.

Present Perfect Continuous Tense definition.

We use the Present Perfect Continuous tense to show that something started in the past and has continued up until now. “For five minutes,” “for two weeks,” and “since Tuesday” are the time phrases (for the duration) that we use with this tense. For example, I have been teaching English for many years. She has been reading books for two hours.

Present Perfect Continuous Formula

A) The Positive formula of the present perfect continuous tense is “Sub + have/has been+1st.v+ing+since/for + obj/comp”

Examples:

1. He has been walking for the last hour in Dubai.
2. She has been working at that company for five years.
3. What have you been doing for the last 30 minutes?
4. Kamran has been studying at the university since June.
5. We have been waiting here for over two hours!
6. He has been fighting for 2 hours.
7. She has been teaching since 2002
8. I have been learning English since last year.
9. You have been working for two hours.
10. We have been running the machine for two hours.
11. They have been cooking food since 2005.
12. Kamran has been practicing since January.

B) Present perfect continuous tense negative structure/formula “Sub + have/has+ not+ been+1st.v+ing+since/for + obj/comp”

• He has not been fighting for 2 hours.
• She has not been teaching since 2002
• I have been not learning English since last year.
• You have not been working for two hours.
• We have not been running the machine for two hours.
• They have not been cooking food since 2005.
• Kamran has not been practicing since January.

C) Interrogative structure / formula.

      have/has + Sub +  been+1st.v+ing+since/for + obj/comp /

• Has he been fighting for 2 hours?
• Has she been teaching since 2002?
• Have I been learning English since last year?
