Adjectives are used to modify nouns and pronouns. It is one of the parts of speech. There are many kinds of adjectives. Demonstrative adjectives are pointing out something, someone, and some animals.

This and these are used for near things and persons but ‘that and those’ are used for far things. ‘This’ point out the singular things. ‘These’ are demonstrating plural things, persons, and animals.
